Anita Dixon's Corner
Greetings to the people across Kansas.
Armed Forces Appreciation Day June 4, 2011 was a great afternoon in Veterans Memorial Park. We had the pleasure of being entertained by "Across the Pond" as we sat back in our lawn chairs, relaxed and listened to some great music. Speakers for the evening were; Commander Cregg Hansen of American Legion Post 408 in Derby, marathon runner Tony Clark and Gold Star Mother Denise Lange.
Operation Freedom Memorial Foundation, Inc. continues to move forward strongly with plans for a Golf Tournament, Celebrity Roast and Silent Auction later this year. I hope you all will come out for these events.
As a Gold Star Mother of a Fallen Kansas Hero, it is important for me to encourage each and every Kansan resident to Remember our Fallen Kansas Hero's that sacrificed their lives for the freedom that we live every day. This beautiful new War Memorial will forever keep all of them Remembered, Honored and Alive in the hearts of all the people they touched.
I personally thank each and every one of you that have given of your time, support and donations to see this memorial to its completion.

Memorial Veteran Pavers
The Operation Freedom Memorial has been designed to include over 600 granite paving stones in the central walkway surrounding the Battlefield Cross and Kneeling Soldier. These solid granite pavers are larger than a normal sized paving stone at 6 inches tall by 10 inches wide, 2 inches thick and are cut from gray granite.
Honor any of your relatives or friends, living or deceased, from any state, who have served our country by aquiring a solid granite paver for them to be placed in the Operation Freedom Memorial central walkway. These granite pavers can be engraved with personalized information to honor a veteran for generations to come. Click here for more info.
Memorial Veteran Organization Pavers
In addition to the individual Veteran Pavers OFM is also offering a larger paver that will be set in the sidewalk leading into the memorial. These pavers are available to any legally chartered veterans organization such as an American Legion or VFW post. Click here for more info.
